Math can be challenging and anxiety provoking for many people. "By some estimates, up to 93% of American adults have some degree of math anxiety." (LA Johnson/NPR) Sesame Street Workshop's of Eastern Connecticut State University created some best practices to share with parents. These principles focus on how adults can help support children in learning simple strategies and skills.
Keep in mind:
Its important to not let your own math anxiety effect your kids.
Engage your children to think about math throughout everyday activities, however simple or small they are.
Play simple math games during physical activities, while cooking, or putting puzzles together. In all of those activities you can incorporate math in a fun and approachable way.
