October is Farm to School Month!

September 12, 2016

Here at Marin Child Care Council we are passionate in offering education, resources and support in nutrition and gardening. To support October’s Farm to School Month we are helping bring local food and education to our children. We are happy to be an official outreach partner for National Farm to School Network, and have partnered with Harvest of the Month to offer our providers with local food from farms in Sonoma and Marin County. To Kicking off in October and continuing through December we will be giving Harvest of the Month boxes to those providers that are participating in our HEAL program. These boxes are full of local produce and educational information for children and families. Our providers will be conducting “Taste Test” and other tasty recipes that incorporate local produce into their activities. We are so excited to be helping create connections between local food and children as well as educational support for our providers and families.

In addition to our Harvest of the Month boxes. Our HEAL coordinator has been working with many providers in garden education and consultations. October will also be the start of HEAL nutrition presentation for families and centers.
