What is HEAL?

The Marin Countywide Healthy Eating Active Living (HEAL) Initiative brings together residents and community partners from throughout Marin to create a road map to improve community health. We are pleased to announce we have received a grant from the Marin Community Foundation for HEAL work with families and providers enrolled in our Access to Quality Child Care program. This program focuses on policies, systems and practices to support HEAL work in child care and support quality. Other opportunities include: more training  for the provider community, on-site work with specialists in different areas, garden and nutrition education and much more!

Parent Voices Marin took a total of 55 parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, providers, and children to Stand for Children Day in Sacramento on May 4, 2016. Required Healthy Schools Act Training

What is the new HSA training requirement? Beginning July 1, 2016 school IPM coordinators and anyone who may apply a pesticide at a school or child care center must take a Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR)-approved training course before making a pesticide application. Who needs to take an HSA training course? Anyone using a pesticide, including licensed pesticide applicators, at a school or child care center needs to take an HSA training course. This includes, but is not limited to disinfecting wipes, sanitizers, and weed-killers.
