Lisa Ann Handley
Governance Committee Chair

Lisa has a passion for education, empowerment and community investment.

Her professional work spans the philanthropic sector, focusing on both sides of the development coin – both in fundraising and grantmaking.

Lisa has worked in education, overseeing admissions and development programs—sucessfully meeting ambitious enrollment and fundraising targets.

Prior, Lisa was the director of a philanthropic Foundation and Corporate Social Responsibility program for an international law firm headquartered in San Francisco. At the firm Lisa’s work centered on strategic planning and investment, board governance, private/public partnership development, and employee volunteerism. Lisa partnered with a global portfolio of innovative grantees, securing for them financial and in-kind support. Lisa’s vision to bring a targeted and holistic investment to the social sector was the first of its kind in the legal profession.

Her earlier work was rooted in public education and the arts, as she worked in major cultural arts institutions, raising money for and producing public programming on a large scale.

She has worked extensively with individual and corporate donors, having chaired the regional corporate philanthropic directors membership group at Northern California Grantmakers, where she planned educational briefings for Bay Area CSR professionals.

Lisa received her Masters degree in Museum Studies with an emphasis on Nonprofit Administration and Fundraising from San Francisco State University and her Bachelors in Art History, with an interdisciplinary minor in Faith, Peace and Justice from Boston College, MA.

Lisa is a Marin native and lives in San Rafael with her two young children and husband.
